Fleur de Lys Ladies’ Morris

We are a women’s side from Godalming, Surrey. We also practice and dance out with members from Cup Hill Men’s Morris. You will often see us out and about performing traditional Mummer’s Plays on festival occasions such as May Day, St. George’s Day and Christmas.

Our dances originate from several parts of England, some are traditional and some are written by members of the side (partly due to the dearth of traditional material collected from this region). Stave dances are based on the processional steps performed by the village friendly societies and we use several styles from the Cotswold area. We also perform some lively dances in the style of Border Morris from Herefordshire and Shropshire, as well as our own Farncombe tradition. We perform mainly in and around Southwest Surrey, our venues vary and include festivals and pubs (often with other sides).

We can be booked for Fairs, Fêtes, Care Homes, & Wedding Entertainment, If you would like more information or to book an event please call Jane 01483423437

Cup Hill Morris Men from Godalming are also looking to increase their side, call Ross kilsby on 07504105657 for more details.

Forget jogging,  forget Zumba . . . .  Come and dance or play with us!

Fleur de Lys is a Morris side with female dancers and both male and female musicians. Morris Dancing is a great way to have fun and keep fit, and we are always looking for lively new members. Don’t worry if you’ve never danced before, as full training will be given.

We are also very keen to welcome new musicians whether experienced or just interested in playing for dancing. Players of melodeon, whistle, recorder, concertina and fiddle are most suited to our style of dance.

We practise from September through until May from 7.45pm till 9.45pm on Tuesday evenings, at The United Reform Church Hall in Godalming town centre. We usually round off the evening with a visit to a local pub. We also enjoy plenty of social activities and have a few weekends away at festivals for those who are really keen. Why not come along and give it a go!

Take a look on our dance programme to see where we are dancing out next.

Our October 2016 Weekend trip to Godalming’s twin town – Joigny, France was a great success, we were given such a warm welcome from The Joigny Association, many thanks to them for their outstanding hospitality.

What a fantastic day our 40th Anniversary Day of Dance 2016 turned out to be, the sun shone, the tea flowed..  A massive thanks to all our friends and families for their help, and big round of applause for our favourite sides – Rampant Rooster Morris, Pilgrim Morris Men of Guildford, Mayflower Morris, Borderline Morris, Customs & Exiles Morris, Marlings Morris, Cup Hill Morris, Minden-Rose & visiting German Folk Dancers, Mythago Morris, Mad Hatter’s Morris, Red Stag Morris – for making the day such a success, cheers guys!
